Tour Itinerary

Day 01: Airport | Negombo

You will arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport, where a representative of WonderScapes Travels will warmly welcome you. You will then be transferred to the coastal city of Negombo. Upon arrival, check in at your hotel and relax by the beautiful seaside as you prepare for your exciting Sri Lankan adventure.

Negombo is a vibrant city enriched by diverse cultural influences. It is home to many beautiful churches and is often referred to as “Little Rome.” The golden sandy beaches here are also well known for their charm and tranquility. In the evening, enjoy a boat ride along the Hamilton Canal.

Day 02: Negombo | Sigiriya

After breakfast, begin the day with a cycling experience in Negombo, taking part in a guided bicycle tour through the town. Explore the local history, culture, customs, and everyday life of Sri Lanka as you ride through its streets and surroundings. After returning to the hotel, continue your journey to Sigiriya.

Day 03: Sigiriya

After breakfast, participate in a village trail experience in Audangawa, providing an opportunity to observe rural life and local traditions. In the afternoon, proceed to Pidurangala Rock for a moderate hike. From the summit, take in panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, including the well-known Sigiriya Rock Fortress.

Return to the hotel and relax.

Day 04: Sigiriya

This morning, after breakfast, proceed to Sri Lanka’s Cultural Triangle, located in the heart of the island and home to some of the country’s most renowned UNESCO World Heritage Sites. En route, visit the iconic Sigiriya Rock Fortress, an impressive ancient citadel rising dramatically above the surrounding plains. The Cultural Triangle encompasses a remarkable collection of heritage attractions, including the ancient cities of Anuradhapura and Polonnaruwa, as well as the historic Dambulla Cave Temple.

The region is also known for its wildlife-rich national parks and protected forest reserves. In the afternoon, proceed on a safari at Minneriya National Park.

Suitable for families with children aged 4 and above. This scenic tour includes gentle hikes, fascinating train journeys, and breathtaking natural wonders that are engaging for all ages.

Things to Keep in Mind

Wear modest, light-colored clothing with shoulders and knees covered when visiting temples and religious sites.

No hats or footwear allowed inside temples. Bring flip-flops (easy to remove) and socks for hot ground surfaces.

Bring sunscreen, sunglasses, and insect repellent. The tropical sun can be intense, especially during outdoor excursions.

Photography restrictions apply at certain religious sites. Always ask permission before taking photos of people or sacred areas.

Day 05: Sigiriya | Dambulla | Kandy

After breakfast, proceed to Dambulla. En route, visit the magnificent Dambulla Royal Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its ancient Buddhist murals, beautifully preserved cave shrines, and impressive collection of statues. Continue your journey to Kandy and check in at the hotel. Relax and unwind after your travels.

In the evening, enjoy a city tour of Kandy, including a tuk-tuk ride through the city and a visit to the sacred Temple of the Tooth Relic.

Day 06: Kandy

After breakfast, proceed to the Knuckles Mountain Range for a guided trekking experience. Walk along established trails that pass through valleys, small streams, and rural villages, providing an opportunity to enjoy the natural surroundings and the calm atmosphere of Sri Lanka’s highlands.

Day 07: Kandy | Ella

After a relaxed morning, travel to the picturesque town of Ella, with a visit to Kitulgala en route. A popular destination for travellers seeking scenic beauty and memorable photo opportunities, Kitulgala offers lush landscapes and refreshing natural surroundings.

The drive to Ella is incredibly scenic, winding through high mountain passes with breathtaking views of waterfalls and valleys. Stop at Ravana Falls, one of the widest cascades in the country, and enjoy a leisurely lunch along the way.

Upon completion, transfer to Kitulgala and take part in exciting adventure activities. Enjoy waterfall abseiling under the guidance of experienced instructors. Experience white-water rafting on the Kelani River, covering approximately 5 kilometers and navigating several major and minor rapids. After the activities, check in at the hotel and relax.

Day 08: Ella

Ella is a charming hill country town surrounded by majestic mountain peaks, making it an ideal destination for adventurous travelers who enjoy trekking and scenic hikes. Little Adam’s Peak is one of Ella’s most scenic and easily accessible viewpoints, offering a rewarding hike suitable for all fitness levels. The well-marked trail winds gently through lush tea plantations and rolling hills, leading to a summit with breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys.

Day 10: Ella | Yala

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Yala National Park. Yala, the second-largest and one of the most visited national parks in Sri Lanka, is spread across the Southern and Uva Provinces. It is renowned for having one of the highest densities of leopards in the world. The park is also home to over 200 species of birds and is recognised as one of Sri Lanka’s Important Bird Areas.

With its diverse ecosystems, Yala supports a wide variety of wildlife, including Sri Lankan elephants, sloth bears, crocodiles, and numerous aquatic birds. In the evening, enjoy a safari experience within the park. Later, relax with a BBQ dinner and an overnight stay at your campsite.

Day 11: Yala | Galle

After breakfast, check out and transfer to Galle. Take in the historic city of Galle, and its many attractions such as the Dutch Fort, a living UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk along the charming cobbled streets of the fortification and take in colonial buildings, churches and the sun-drenched ramparts from which some stunning views of the azure blue Indian Ocean can be enjoyed!

Day 12: Departure

After breakfast, it is time to transfer to Bandaranaike International Airport for your flight home, taking with you unforgettable memories of Sri Lanka’s culture and landscapes.

Sunscreen, flip flops, shoes and insect repellent will always come in handy

At all religious sites in Sri Lanka everyone is expected to dress respectfully in modest light coloured clothing with shoulders & knees covered

NO hats or footwear are allowed inside temples, so flip flops (which you would have to leave at the entrance) and an extra pair of socks are a good idea so you do not have to walk barefoot on the hot ground.
